Blackpool and the Fylde Graduate Illustrator Kirsty Wilkinson

We round off the week of features with North West illustrator Kirsty Wilkinson. Having graduated from Blackpool and the Fylde college in 2011 with a degree in Illustration Kirsty has since been working as a freelance artist from her home studio, creating a portfolio to be proud of.

“I specialise in greeting cards and decorative pieces, in which I use my hand drawn typography on! I love all things typography! I first discovered my love for this whilst completing a brief during my illustration course at university, and now a lot of my work is based around this, as I really like making up cute little sayings to go on cards or inspirational sayings for pieces to put up around you house. A lot of my work is also based around food and cooking as this is another passion of mine. I also team this up with little drawings usually with fine-liner and watercolours. Another one of my favourite things to do is screen printing, I love making little prints to go on bags and t-shirts as well as printing my typographic designs!”

“I have worked for two different agents, one whilst at university and one since leaving, this is going really well and as much as I love doing it I would like a more permanent role somewhere as the freelance market is not very demanding at this moment in time due to the rescission. My dream would to to work in any design studio or business as I love all types of design and am always up for trying new things and a new challenge!”
