Bolton Festival of the Arts 2012

Bolton Festival of the Arts will celebrate the town’s amazing creative talent, through shows, exhibitions, workshops and live performances, highlighting Bolton’s true colours of cultural goodness.This festival is for everyone and everyone is welcome!

The week-long town centre Festival of the Arts runs from June 14 to June 21. It will offer everything from art exhibitions and music to street theatre and an arts trail to showcase creativity in the town.

The festival, led by the University of Bolton, is now set to be an annual event. Organisations from across the town have joined forces to make the event happen, including Bolton Council, Bolton College, Bolton Sixth Form, The Octagon Theatre, Bolton Arts Forum, Bolton at Home, numerous community groups, NeoArtists, The Market Place, The Gates and St Andrews Court development.

Among the highlights of the week will be:

  • Displays, performances and exhibitions across the town centre, including arts and crafts demonstrations and stalls at St Andrew’s Church, St Andrew’s Court (Sunday June 17, 11am – 3pm)
  • NeoArtists Exhibitions Artprize at Unit 22, The Market Place and Prospection Neo:gallery 32 Corporation St, both created by former University of Bolton students.
  • Bolton Market Place – exhibitions from local artists
  •  Bolton Arts Trail around the town – a treasure hunt of art and poetry across town centre shops throughout the week
  •  Outdoor stage and live performances, Churchgate as well as live bands (adults only) The Man and Scythe pub – Churchgate 3pm (Saturday June 16)
  •  Neo Artists, open studio weekend, printmaking demonstrations, 10am – 4pm and 2pm artprize presentation on Saturday June 16
  •  Performing artists performing street theatre around the town centre on both Saturday June 16 and Sunday June 17.
