Opportunities for Young Creatives at The Stockport Teenage Market!

Today we share with you news of an exciting event that gives teenagers the chance to show off their entrepreneurial prowess as well as other skills. The Teenage Market‘ is a new creative community idea organised by 17 year-old art and design Aquinas college student Tom Barratt. The event is based at Stockport Market Hall on Sunday 1st April from 12pm until 4pm and offers free stalls to young people and arts-based entrepreneurs who would like a platform to sell their products, promote their talents and skills and engage with the local community.

Young Creative Entrepreneurs

The Teenage Market is looking for young people with a wide variety of skills sets in such areas as film, music, digital media and visual art & design.

You could be a photographer, web designer, fashion designer, graphic artist, painter, sculptor, graffiti-artist, stylist, jewellery designer, filmmaker, animator, beauty therapist, chef, baker…

Creative Mentors

We are also looking for people who run established creative businesses who would be interested in having a free stall to promote their own business, and who would act as a creative mentor to a teenager on the day.

This would mean that you would have a free helper for the day on your stall, and in return you would be willing to share your knowledge and experience of your field of expertise.

In other words, chat to a teenager about what you do and how you got there.

Performance Space

There will also be a performance space for live entertainment and we are looking for singer-songwriters or up and coming bands who can perform acoustically, as well poets, comedians, performance/street artists, dancers – street & contemporary.

How much is admission?

It’s £1 admission, with all profits going towards The Wellspring in Stockport, Registered Charity No. 1088776.

If you would like to have a stall or perform at the event please fill out an application form and e-mail it to: tom@theteenagemarket.co.uk

The Teenage Market is a Screen Stockport initiative and is part of the Screen Stockport Sunday Social, which aims to build a creative arts community in and around the market area, hopefully helping towards the regeneration of the town centre.
