Spectacular Display of Digital Art From Young Designer Angelika Kural

It’s a real pleasure to showcase to you today a really inspirational, up-and-coming digital artist in the form of 24 year-old Angelika Kural from Krakow, Poland. Having started design work at a very young age, Angelika’s skills are predominantly self-taught and although she has worked in a small advertising agency, the keen artist has since moved into freelance design on a full-time basis. I think you’ll agree that Angelika’s work is both striking and thought-provoking; here, she explains to Business Boom Bolton a bit more about her methods of design and thought-process behind the artwork. Enjoy.

“In short, working with Photoshop has been the greatest adventure of my life. Why? Graphic designers look at everything from a certain perspective; almost everything that surrounds us is in some way linked to the world of design, from book covers, magazines, clothes, to furniture and so on. Every time you work with Photoshop, your knowledge about this program increases and you begin to understand that there are numerous possibilities that are limited by your imagination alone. I recently came across an excellent article about the brain of a graphic designer that nicely sums up my point on Onextrapixel.

Black Swan

Most of the time my inspirations come from spectacular photos that blow me away. The first thing that comes to mind is ‘I have to put my own stamp on this picture’. After receiving written permission to use this photo in my designs, I started the Photoshop process straight away. The basic concept for this one was to make her eyes speak to the audience. I play around with a lot of watercolour brushes (up to 37 different brushes) and I subsequently decide whether to add typography to this. I would say that one of the most important aspects of my artwork is the fact that it expresses emotions and connects with the viewer.

“Design for me isn’t simply a living, it’s a lifestyle.”

Black Swan has been  featured on various sites like: Abduzeedo, fromupnorth.com, theinspirationgrid, cromoart.de, pascale-boudeville.fr, bloodyloud.com, art-a-designer.ru, and dailyinspiration.nl.

For all of you who seek inspiration, I recommend to check out all these sites. To all you young budding artists, try to have fun with Photoshop – be creative and explore your imagination! Always be cautious with the source of the images you use, especially with stock photos. However, the main thing is to be original and portray your own style.”
