Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair 2011

Expanding our events section to showcase the best creative events in the North West is something we are working hard on. Today we’re featuring the ‘Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair‘ which is being run from the new Spinningfields complex in Manchester later this month.

Now entering its fourth year in existence, the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair is running this year between the 20th and 23rd of October. This event is known to not only inspire its visitors, but also gives you a “unique shopping experience in the heart of Manchester.”

Spinningfields (just off Deansgate,) allows all visitors a brilliant opportunity to meet and discover exhibitors that they would not usually find elsewhere. You can view and purchase all exhibitors’ latest work including jewellery, interior textiles, fashion accessories, glass, ceramics, wood and paper. “It’s a chance to buy beautiful accessories and gifts as well as functional items for the home direct from 140 inspiring designer-makers.”

“Winner of the Small Tourism Event of the Year category at the 2011 Manchester Tourism Awards, the event is filled with new and established makers and also plays host to the best emerging new talent from across the north.”

You can spend the day in a stimulating environment and also relax to take in the sights and sounds of the fair. Chat to each of the makers and find out what story is behind each of their unique pieces. This event is a move away from the excess and mass production which is all too often littered in todays society and is largely about “finding something to love and buying it direct from the person who made it.”

You can visit the exhibition for only £6 on the door (£5 concessions).
